Delighted to graduate with my Masters degree
I’m delighted to graduate from DCU with my Master’s in Climate Change: Policy, Media and Society. It’s been an incredible journey from my undergraduate days to today, and I couldn’t think of a better way to close out my time in DCU.
Pursuing my Master’s degree during COVID-19 meant overcoming many more challenges than I was expecting, and I think that experience was as valuable to me as the course itself. I felt proud collecting my parchment and knowing I’m more resilient and adaptive than I could have imagined before.
I’m also incredibly grateful to those who have supported me, and my achievements are a credit to my friends and family as much as myself. “Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann muid” means that we all live in each other’s shelter and the past two years have highlighted that more than anything.
As this chapter ends, I’m excited to look towards the future and my next steps. Education and development are lifelong pursuits, and there’s always work to be done to make our future a brighter and more sustainable one.

TrackVax wins at the CIO & IT Leaders Awards
It was wonderful to attend the CIO & IT Leaders Awards 2022 as project manager with the TrackVax team. I’m delighted that we won ‘IT Project of the Year’ and received a special commendation for ‘Outstanding Response to COVID-19’.
It’s been amazing to witness the difference TrackVax has made in the COVID-19 vaccination programme, and to have that work recognised by industry leaders is a huge honour.

I won a scholarship!
I’m incredibly grateful to have been awarded a full scholarship from the DCU Access department and the NTR Foundation to undertake my master’s degree. This scholarship means that I can pursue my postgraduate education debt free, and as an access student this really is a life-changing opportunity.
I’ve been accepted for a place in DCU’s MSc in Climate Change: Policy, Media & Society (a topic close to my heart) and am looking forward to beginning this new chapter of my education in September.
Proud to graduate with a 2:1 in my degree
I’m so happy this day has finally come. Going to college has been a dream ever since I was a child and now I’m so proud to say not only have I achieved that, but I’ve graduated with a BA in Economics, Politics and Law.
Being the first person in my family to go to college was a privilege as much as it was a challenge. I’m so grateful for my family and friends who who made the whole endeavour possible and gave me the best graduation I could ask for.

Delighted to receive the inaugural ‘Colgan Award’
Last month I finally passed on the role of Events Coordinator after spending the last three years organising the weekly events for DCU LGBTA Society. Right after the election, I was surprised with a special society contribution award.
Being honoured with an award named after me is most emotional, humbling thing I’ve ever experienced. Serving three terms for this society has been a privilege and a pleasure. I’ve met so many incredible people, made so many friends and memories. I’ve had so many experiences and opportunities that I could have never expected.
Having my commitment to helping LGBTQ+ students recognised and knowing I’ve contributed something special to student life in DCU is incredible. There aren’t enough words to convey how proud I am of everything we’ve done as a society, and how excited I am to see what this new evolution of LGBTA does.

Honoured to be shortlisted for the national USI Student Achievement Awards
It felt incredible to even be nominated for the national Student Achievement Awards of Ireland (SAAIs). Especially considering I was among such inspiring company, in the category of ‘Outstanding Contribution to Student Life’. To then go on and be shortlisted is an unbelievable honour.
I’m eternally grateful for the recognition I’ve received for playing my part to improve the experience of students on campus. My involvement with DCU Feminist Society, DCU LGBTA, and DCU Students’ Union has lead to a more accepting environment for all students – no matter their gender or sexual orientation. Seeing that growth on campus has been more than reward enough, but it did feel amazing to have it acknowledged on a national level.
Huge congratulations though to DIT’s Art and Design Society. The work they have done and continue to do for the students in DIT is nothing short of outstanding and this award is so well deserved.
